Bude Ladies FC v Bay: Match Report

The visitors attacked Bude Ladies FC from the start when they played newly promoted Bay at home on Sunday 2nd September. It meant they were left having to defend well. Corrine Anderson got stuck in and, despite an abundance of pressure, Bude managed at first to keep them out.

On the break, Bude created chances and new signing Katherine Bryant came close, her shot hitting the bar. Bay pushed again though and a cracking shot from the left hand edge of the box gave the keeper no chance.
0-1 down at half time, Bude needed to up their game but it was Bay who doubled their lead shortly after the break. Bude didn't lie down and Tegan Nichols and Lizzy Jenkins both had chances, but Bay proved stronger and their dominance on the ball resulted in a third away goal and some essential saves from keeper Lisa Cornish.
With just 15 minutes to go Bude still fought on and with Leanne Stanbury and Bryher Smeeth attacking with urgency, more shots on goal were created.
Top goal scorer Anita Symons pounced on one of the rebounds and gave Bude hope at 1-3. With time running out Bude pushed and pushed and spent more time in Bay's box but without managing to score any more goals.
Final score 1 – 3 with this week's Man of the Match Leanne Stanbury.
