Bude Taxi Driver Loses Licensing Battle

A taxi driver who appealed against a decision by the Council's Miscellaneous Licensing Committee has had his appeal rejected at a hearing at Bodmin Magistrates Court on 20 January 2012.
Mr Richard Anthony Woods from Bude was appealing against a decision made by the Miscellaneous Licensing Committee in October 2011 not to renew his hackney carriage driver's licence. The Miscellaneous Licensing Committee no longer considered Mr Woods to be a fit and proper person to hold a licence.
The courts upheld the Council's decision and directed Mr Woods to pay £1,000 of the Council's costs within 28 days.
Councillor Jim Flashman, Chairman of Cornwall Council's Licensing Miscellaneous Committee said: "We are delighted with the result and pleased the Court upheld our decision"

At the moment, we can only tell you what Cornwall Council have released. If any reporter were at Bodmin Magistrates court more may become known in time. Trev is sensible not to speculate on legal matters........

ReportIt would be interesting to know the reason for the refusal. Only being given half the story is rather like teasing. Surely he wouldn't have been guilty of driving a Hackney Carriage without the requisite bale of hay would he?
