Two men living in the Bude area have been released on bail after being arrested on suspicion of burglary. They were detained by police after a chase on the A30 following a break in at a garage near Camelford.
The Camelot Garage at Valley Truckle was broken into at around 4.30am on Sunday 7th October. The upstairs office was forced open and a safe stolen from the wall.
Later that morning at around 8.30am, two men were seen in a field trying to open a safe but they fled the scene in a blue Ford Mondeo.
A car matching that description was sighted in St Breward but, when it failed to stop for police, a pursuit took place which involved driving out of St Breward and onto the A30.
A short time later the car was found abandoned in Polyphant near Launceston. The two men, both aged 37, were found nearby and arrested. They're now on bail until 29 November while officers carry out further enquiries.
Detectives are appealing for any witnesses who may have seen men acting suspiciously around the times reported or a blue Mondeo car around the North Cornwall area over the weekend of 6 to 7 October.
Police also want to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the pursuit or seen the men discard anything from the car.
Anyone with information is asked to call 101 and quote reference BC/12/398.
