Budehaven's Molly is rowing champion

A year nine student from Budhaven has been crowned West Indoor Rowing Champion. Molly Mees took the top spot at the West Regional Indoor Schools' Rowing Competition held at the University of St Mark & St John, Plymouth earlier this month.

398 pupils from 38 schools attended the competition and Budehaven managed to achieve some fantastic results.
Alongside Molly's success, fellow year nine student Gussie Clayton finished in seventh place.
Year 12/13 boy Connor Wood, achieved twelfth place in his first competition, while Tully Innes from year 11 rowed 1630m in his set time of six minutes giving him thirteenth place.
Year 10 boy Keiran Hammond managed 21st place, rowing 1340m in his set time of five minutes.
Year 8 boys Zerran Hammond and Dan West rowed 750m and 715m in their set time of three minutes, finishing 11th and 24th respectively.
Michael Currie from year 7 rowed 482m in two minutes to take 12th place and year 8 girls Jamie-Anne Hart and Emma Shaw rowed 706m and 692m in their set time of three minutes finishing 17th and 21st respectively.
The set times for competitors in years 7 to 11 were determined by age group, while years 12 and 13 rowed for 2,000m.
Training at Budehaven is now continuing and the school is looking ahead to gig rowing in the summer term.
