"KernowCalling would like to congratulate Bude town council's decision to refrain from their custom to fly the English flag high on Shoulder Hill on St Georges day.
We were aware of a number of incidents in previous years of flags being removed and the concerns of local residents of the supplanting of St George's day over Saint Piran's.
On St George's day 2012 two members of KernowCalling were waiting to see if Bude town council would hoist the English flag on Shoulder hill in place of the St Piran's that usually fly's there, Bude
Town Council do not extend this courtesy to St Andrew's or St David's day; with this in mind, the KernowCalling members were preparing to remove the English flag if it was flown, and armed with a ladder a St Piran's flag and a drag queen Elizabeth (who would do the honours of re raising the black and white) and the aid of some Bude residents they waited.
The word had quickly got around Bude and more people started to gather expectantly near Shoulder Hill but as the morning turned to afternoon and the St Piran's flag was still flying high it became clear that Bude Town Council had finally admitted defeat and adhered to the feelings of the people.
We are very pleased with the outcome and regard it as a victory, Although, it would have been funny seeing the Queen climbing up the ladder! We'll save the outfits for the next event!
We hoped for a statement from Bude Town Council but no one was available for comment, if we receive a statement from them we will publish it."

Oh well, just have to hope the English tourists don't take against us and stop coming to Cornwall, else there really will be problems!

ReportGood idea 'strikealight', Flags and religion must be responsible for more deaths than badly made pasties ! I come from a part of the UK where the 'Minority' of the population succeeded in electing an Assembly to run the country.....what a great idea, there is now another level of government!. Take heed those, (like me), who couldn't be bothered to vote.......the eccentrics and those with a agenda will be bothered. Time for a rest, I got a headache.

ReportI don't know how 'cornish_rebel' will react if Bude (or nude) becomes part of Devon, personally I don't care........it will still be the same view out of the window.
