Police Appeal Over Camelford Arson Attack

Detectives are appealing for information after an attempt was made to set fire to a house in Camelford whilst the occupants were asleep inside.The incident took place between 11pm on Tuesday, 24 January 2012 and 7.45am on Wenesday, 25 January 2012 at a property on Fore Street in the town.The 46-year-old male occupant of the house woke in the morning to discover that plastering liquid had been poured down the stairs inside the property, which opens out on to the pavement.Nearby, a pot of fire cement had been set alight alongside a cardboard box.These were all materials owned by the occupant who is currently in the process of renovating the house.Also present in the house at the time was the man's partner and their seven-year-old daughter. Commented DC Grant Mills: "This appears to have been a deliberate attempt to start a fire at this property."Thankfully, the fire did not take hold or the consequences could have been much more serious for those involved.""We would urge anyone with information about this incident to come forward."Anyone with information is asked to contact the Police on 101, quoting reference BC/12/23
