Interested in making your home more environmentally friendly?
Interested in sustainable, organic, environmentally friendly farming?
This is your chance to talk to someone who has done it already!
Cottage Farm is the first SuperHome in Cornwall, a real home where real people have drastically reduced their carbon footprint and their energy bills. Cottage Farm is also a prize winning organic farm powered entirely by renewable energy as well as sustainable Farmer of the Year finalist at the BBC Food and Farming Awards and highly commended at the Cornwall Sustainability Awards.
Located in Jacobstow, just 8 miles South of Bude, the farmhouse demonstrates insulation, renewable energy for water and space heating, cooking, electricity, water, transport and the latest in LED lighting. The farm shows off farming powered by renewable energy with near zero use of fossil fuels, farming without fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, routine preventative medication of farm animals or other harmful practices. Instead organic and permaculture principles are applied to all aspects of farming.
We show our visitors why and how we live and farm with near zero use of fossil fuels and how they, too, may be able to benefit from much lower energy bills. Visitors will be able to touch and feel, see and ask questions about
· the many energy saving steps taken
· the various methods of renewable energy generation employed and its benefits
· followed by a farm walk
