8May2011: 'SuperHome' open day - how to save on energy bills
Sunday 8th May 2011
Cottage Farm
Open Day
Starts at 14:00, ends anytime between 15:00 and 18:00 depending how long you want to stay
As part of the National Superhomes scheme (http://tinyurl.com/3jbcgqr), Cottage Farm will again be opening its doors to the public.
Cottage Farm is an organic sustainable farm raising native breeds and selling produce locally. It is powered by renewable energy with near zero use of fossil fuels, having reduced its carbon emissions by over 100% (as assessed by the Cornwall Sustainable Building Trust) and practicing carbon neutral living and farming. We are also of course actively engaged in the Transition process.
Visitors will be able to see and ask questions about
· the various energy saving steps taken and how to apply them to their own houses
· the various methods of renewable energy generation employed and its benefits
· the organic and permaculture farming methods, localised sustainable food production and carbon free deliveries of Cottage Farm fresh meat boxes.
· We may also discuss the Superhomes charity and Transition Movement and its contribution to increasing local resilience in North Cornwall.
- You can also join us on an organic farm walk to see our calves, lambs, goslings, and the other animals and vegetables sharing our farm
Attendance will be limited to 15 participants, so it is essential to book as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
Please book here: http://tinyurl.com/4xuceca and click on 'Register Online'. Alternatively, send us an email at Cottage.Farm@tiscali.co.uk, stating number of people attending, names and address.
Looking forward to welcoming you
Paul & Celia
