Christmas Dangers for Dogs
- Chocolate. Avoid giving your dog any chocolate. The higher the cocoa content the more toxic it can be for your dog. Commercially available doggy chocolate contains no cocoa.
- Grapes. Fresh and dried grapes can be toxic to dogs. Raisins are especially toxic to dogs so avoid giving them Christmas Pudding, Christmas cake, mince pies etc.
- Poinsettia. Like other members of the Euphorbia family it has toxic sap that can cause skin burns.
- Fairy Light Cables. Can be tempting for dogs to chew.
- Turkey Bones. Tend to splinter and potentially cause internal damage
- Over Excitement. Try as far as possible not to upset your dog's routine. If you're having a lot of people around make sure your dog can get away from the excitement and has a place to be quiet and relaxed... even if you don't have that luxury yourself!
