The idea of super-fast Broadband must be good news for any business that needs/uses these speeds - and a great opportunity for local technology companies.
To answer your other question, 'how is your braodband at the moment?' - it's pretty good here in the centre of Poughill, where I can get reliable speeds of around 5 mbps. But, go much further away from the exchange, it soon drops to half that. I've read that BT is upgrading most exchanges (allegedly by Mar 2011) under a project labelled BT21CN (21st Century Network) with forecasts of up to 20 mbps (which probably means a mximum of 12 - 15) which may be more than enough for most home/office users - that's assuming we get it, and it doesn't cost an arm and a leg!

hmmmm this is weird apparently we now have fibre in bude and im available to get it??? lol http://tinyurl.com/65ooken
Today's the day (so BT tell me) that they are upgrading the local exchange - and we should get faster broadband. BUT this isn't the mega-fast fibre optic cable - so we'll have to see later what happens. While there are gangs in the locality laying fibre optic cables ("from exchnage to cabinet") we'll only get faster line speeds when the fibre optic cable is connected to the property. It's just like living next door to a high-speed railway line; no use whatsoever if you can't get on board!. The TalkTalk man may not have been telling porkies, their service will just be getting what the rest of us can get - after all, it's the same phone line.
