On May 26th 2011 a new EU originated law came into effect that requires website owners to make significant changes to their sites and may fundamentally change the whole web browsing and shopping experience for everybody. This Cookie Law is amended privacy legislation that requires websites to obtain informed consent from visitors before they can store or retrieve any information on a computer or any other web connected device. Failure to comply with these regulations would incur a fine of up to £500,000.
This applies to over 90% of all websites. As with every website we build, your site probably contains cookies which allow some or all of the following: • Track users movements on your site using such tools as google analytics. • Uses social media sharing functionality to allow the content on your site to be shared seamlessly • Has paid advertising displayed on the site • Allows the website to remember the contents of a shopping cart
I am sure you will agree that taking the risk of incurring such a penalty is not worth it.
In order for your site to comply with the new law, you are required to ad a function to your site which warns visitors that cookies are likely to be installed on their computers and allows them to either give their consent or leave the website.
We are offering to upgrade your site to comply with these regulations for a minimal cost of £25. This work would normally be chargeable at £120.
