Wow, it was a total sell-out! 260 tickets sold, I am told, and people turned away at the door. Let's hope the BCC have a similar success with June's showing of Black Swan, which is a something of a psychological drama/thriller set around the ballet, with, of course, wonderful music by Tchaikovsky......can't wait.
Did anyone see The King's Speech at the Parkhouse last night? Verdict?
Last night was Community Cinema at it's best. Obviously the film was the starting point, but the people who came seemed to sense that it was an evening to be thoroughly enjoyed. Yes, it was full, and yes a few couldn't get in - which does reinforce the value of reserving tickets (via phone or e-mail) - a service offered by BCC. But the icing on the cake was the bonus from TRELAWNY TEAROOM (Widemouth Bay). Not only did they sponsor the film evening but provided a wonderul (gratis) spread of cakes and cream scones that fed the frenzy. Not many films end with a round of applause from the audience; a sure sign of enjoyment. The support for the event was wonderful; a great evening. Let's hope the next venture - on a Thursday (2nd June) at a differnet venue (Budehaven School) will be as good.
