I read this the other day, have found this out trying to get onto the ladder in the last few years but still winds me up to read it! To buy a decent house you need twice an average salary as deposit, considering how tight money is how long does it take to save up twice your annual salary, with kids as well I reckon it would take about 30 years as could maybe put £100 a month away!!!! In which time houses will be twice as dear and I'll be too old to get a mortgage. I only know 1 person who earns over £54k a year and they have a house already, and they couldn't get the deposit together either so we are all stuck!!
