    Hi There,
I would guess the best place to take some photos would probably be in-front of the swimmers as they line up on the line and then you'd probably get some good action ones when the whistle goes.

On Christmas morning, hundreds of intrepid swimmers from across Cornwall and beyond will go for a refreshing dip in the sea to help raise money for the Northern Hemisphere's oldest Surf Life Saving Club at Crooklets Beach, Bude.
This year the organisers of the Mike Moyle Memorial Swim are aiming for their biggest ever turnout, setting a target of 600 sponsored swimmers from all age groups. Organised by the Bude Surf Life Saving Club, the community-spirited act of madness is rapidly growing as a spectator event, making Bude seafront remarkably busy on Christmas morning with thousands of spectators and well-wishers lining the beaches and cliff tops.

    Grin and bare it!
Swimmers of all ages (from 8 up if accompanied by an adult) are welcome to take part in the mad cap splash but only those 12 and under are allowed to wear wetsuits! To stave off the cold, swimmers will be led in a group warm-up on the beach by the club's resident fitness trainer, David Herman, before the klaxon sounds at 11am to signal the dash for the waves.

In honour of the fun headgear worn by many, this year there will be a competition for the swimmer with the best Christmas hat. A winner will be chosen from among the under 13s, under 21s and 'senior splashers'.

The club is also calling all amateur video producers to make their own recording of the day's events for use on you tube and on the site's web site and facebook group. The best video will be sent to regional broadcast outlets and could be shown on TV!

Bude Surf Live Saving Club chairman, Adrian Parsons, said: "The annual Christmas Day swim has been a highpoint of the holidays for many years and is a really special thing to do. The money raised by the sponsored swimmers, and from the hot drinks and refreshments we offer the crowd on the day, mean we can carry on training children how to be safe in the sea and supporting the beach lifeguard rescue service on one of Cornwall's most popular beaches."

The Christmas day swim is at 11am, with beach warm-up from 10.45am. Swimmers are advised to be at Crooklets beach at 10.30am. Order your sponsorship form before the event online at or collect in person from Zuma Jay surf shop, Bude. Participants are welcome on the day but must pay £10 to take part.
