Ah, I see what you mean BCC. Shame about the past history but let's hope these beauties survive. At least the overhead cable has gone but the natural predators one can do little about, I suspect. It would be good to have your photos on site sometime if you don't mind sharing them.
Depends on what you mean by "in years"! It was only a couple of years ago that a pair died (two different causes apparently) and the previous year one flew into an overhead cable (since relocated). I have a photograph (Jun 2007) of a swan with 2 cygnets - and from Mar 2008, a picture of a swan on a nest. Sadly it was built on the north side of the canal and (allegedly) destroyed by foxes (or other animal).
