By dawnrw at 16:44 on 02/02/12
Not Holsworthy Community College but you get the idea - eager to learn!
It's always great to celebrate the achievements of local schools, so it was excellent news to read of the successful Ofsted inspection of Holsworthy School, with details released today. No apologies for taking this from the Devon County Council website in praise of staff and students at Holsworthy:  "Students at a small Devon secondary school say they enjoy learning in the family-like atmosphere. The students at Holswo...

It's called Budehaven Community School and here's just one event which demonstrates how those links are developed and maintained. This event involved 270 pre-schoolers from the Bude area, who, by the sound of it, all had a truly wonderful time!   Now in its 6th Year, students at Budehaven Community School last week hosted their annual pre-school physical activity session based on a children's book. This time it was 'Roaring...

Applying for university is fraught for students, teachers and, indeed, parents. Walking on Water - Charlotte Kington & Emily Crocker
Budehaven Sixth Form students did extremely well last year and it was great to discover recently that a number of the courses run by the school  performed in the  top 5% of all advanced level courses (A levels and Level 3 Btecs) in the country and one of the school's courses, the Level 3 Btec in Outdoor Adventure, is actually in the number one position. So does this mean that Bude's local school the best course in the...

It seems that the proposal to set up a free school near Bude has shifted somewhat. From the originally proposed site near Killarney Springs, Morwenstow, the Route 39 team have now set their sights on Devon with a school 'somewhere between Bucks Mills and Welcombe' (according to their website) believed to be on land behind The Milky Way, after receiving a more favourable response from Devon County Council than Cornwall. The spotlight...
